Felipe Pantone, a Zenith testimonial, promoted a laudable charity initiative to raise funds for the people affected by the floods that hit Valencia on 29 October.
Argentinian-Spanish artist Felipe Pantone, who collaborates with Zenith since 2020 and has its studio in Valencia, suffered, like all the inhabitants of the area, the terrible effects of Dana, the cloudburst that has devastated Spain in recent weeks. Pantone therefore called upon artist friends to Auction for Actioncharity auction of works of art to raise funds to help the population. More than 40 artists contributed to the initiative.
Zenith answered the call, putting back into production for the occasion one of the best-loved models among those made in collaboration with the artist. It is the Zenith Defy Extreme Felipe Pantonewhich the House offers to the cause of Auction for Action. This watch will be auctioned on Monday 25 November at 12 noon. The proceeds of the sale will go to the Red Cross, to support intervention activities in the Valencia area.
The words of Felipe Pantone
The Argentinian-Spanish artist launched an appeal via his Instagram page.
Pantone itself, in a reel posted on its Instagram page, stated: "Our studio in Valencia was devastated by the storm. One of our warehouses flooded, we lost machinery, equipment and artwork that we are trying to salvage. But this tragedy is much bigger than us. Valencia has been hit in an unprecedented way. Tornadoes and floods have destroyed roads, houses and hundreds of lives. Just as Valencians have united to help each other, I am launching an international appeal to draw attention to this tragedy and, through art, inspire the world to support Valencia. Artists from all over the world are responding, donating their works for a charity auction via the website auctionforaction.artaimed at raising funds for the reconstruction of our city. We need you. Participate in the auction, make a donation, share this message, help Valencia to rise again. Every work of art, every contribution is important, because we unite to give life back to our city'.
Zenith Defy Extreme Felipe Pantone auctioned in aid of Valencia
The watch will be auctioned on Monday 25 November at 12 noon, and the proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross.
First presented in 2022 in a limited edition of 100, the Zenith Defy Extreme Felipe Pantone Edition is the second model realised in collaboration with the Argentinian-Spanish artist. Made of mirror-polished steel, the 44 mm case features facetted lines. Transparency and colour are present on the dodecagonal bezel and on the structures protecting the chrono buttons. These elements are made of translucent blue YAS (yttrium aluminosilicate), crystalline glass material comparable to synthetic sapphire glass.
The four corners of the case are engraved with 'FP#1', a code signature that stands for 'Felipe Pantone El Primero'. The movement used is the Zenith El Primero 21 automatic calibre, equipped with two independent escapements, one oscillating at 36,000 vibrations per hour and the other at 360,000 vibrations per hour. This watch is able to measure the hundredth of a second by means of the hand in the centre, which makes one revolution in one second. The Defy Extreme Felipe Pantone has a translucent blue silicone strap, echoing the translucent blue elements of the case. The watch is also equipped with a steel bracelet and a black Velcro strap, easily interchangeable.
