Inspired by wild and arid desert landscapes, the Defy Extreme Desert is an artistic reinterpretation of the 1/100th of a second chronograph and the first in a series of models inspired by extreme environments. With its 45 mm titanium case, the Defy Extreme Desert employs components to protect the push-buttons and bezel made of hawk's eye, a type of macrocrystalline quartz with a matt blue-grey colour whose name derives from the bird of prey that has accompanied nomadic desert tribes for centuries. The manual working of this particular stone, in order to integrate it into the case structure, is an operation never before carried out in watchmaking. And because each stone is different and exhibits slightly different fibrous structures and colours, each of the 50 Defy Extreme Desert is essentially a unique piece. "The Defy Extreme Desert certainly captures the majestic grandeur and striking beauty of the arid expanses and sand mountains": cow photographer Kourosh Keynejad comments on the Defy Extreme Desert. After years of solo travels around the world, reaching the most extreme and remote destinations and imprinting them forever in very special images, the British-born, California-based photographer has become famous for his breathtaking images, which enhance the beauty of the desert. This is the artist's first project in collaboration with a brand. The Defy Extreme Desert, water-resistant to a pressure of 20 atmospheres, is powered by the El Primero 9004 calibre (36,000 vibrations/hour for the movement, 360,000 vibrations/hour for the chronograph at 1/100th of a second, 45-hour power reserve), mechanical with automatic winding, and is paired with a micro-sandblasted titanium bracelet with folding clasp. The watch comes with a second beige rubber strap and a third Velcro strap with a quick-change system.
