Wyler Vetta continues to weave past and present: the Chronographe 38 mm is a tribute to the history of the brand's finest chronographs.
In the ebb and flow of watchmaking, the brand has done an interesting job of rediscovering its past, in the wake of a new-vintage trend that is increasingly in vogue. The 'back to the future' operation of Wyler Vettain the wake of the brand's 100th anniversary celebrations in 2024, led to the launch of a new collection of watches inspired by an archive chronograph from the 1940s. It is one of the first chronographs in watchmaking history to boast a water-resistant case.
The Chronographe 38 balances elegance and sportiness in a 38 mm diameter steel case, which allows a comfortable fit at the wrist. The company offers it in three dial versions, graphically faithful to the historical models: two-tone grey and black; black with gold details; and grey. What also gives a chronograph its appeal are the scales used. In this case, we have the tachymeter scale on a base of 1000, which allows calculation of the average speed of moving objects with respect to a predefined distance, in kilometres or miles. In addition to telemetry, to measure the distance of an immediately visible and subsequently audible phenomenon, such as lightning and thunder.
Vintage design and contemporary style for the new Wyler Vetta chronograph
The water resistance of the Chronographe 38 mm is 10 atmospheres.
The layout of the dial, with Arabic numerals, is traditional with two counters, with the chrono minutes at 3 o'clock and the continuous seconds at 9 o'clock. As in the 1940s models, at 6 o'clock is the 'waterproof' indication, reminiscent of the historical water-resistance of the Wyler Vetta chronographs, which has been increased in the new Chronographe 38 to 10 atmospheres. A Giving a further vintage touch to the watch is the domed sapphire crystal.
While its roots are in the past, the Chronographe 38 is nevertheless a watch of a new generation. Its versatility is underlined by the quick release system of the strap. The choice is between a metal bracelet, a handcrafted Made in Italy Mohawk strap with a suede effect and offered in three colours with écru-coloured coarse thread stitching.
