It is the Manufacture calibre 2162 QP/270 (visible from the back side), a mechanical movement with automatic winding combining two of the most prestigious complications in haute horlogerie, the tourbillon device and perpetual calendar. This movement, which is 6.55 mm thick, represented an engineering challenge brilliantly overcome by the Maison's master watchmakers.

The perpetual calendar represents one of the most significant complications in the history of Vacheron Constantin. This function, which automatically takes into account the variable length of months and leap years, has deep roots in the Maison's heritage. Suffice it to say that The first Vacheron Constantin model equipped with a perpetual calendar dates back to 1884.

The new Manufacture Calibre 2162 QP/270

The movement driving the new Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar is hand-finished to the highest standards.

The new gauge 2162 QP/270 beats at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz), a relatively slow rhythm that allows the mechanical choreography of the tourbillon to be admired. Equipped with a 72-hour power reserve, it adopts a patented transmission system for perpetual calendar functions. In particular, an integrated flexible gear wheel allows the perpetual calendar displays to be adjusted both clockwise and anti-clockwise, without running the risk of damaging the movement.

The 22-carat gold peripheral oscillating weight allows one to admire the calibre in all its interest, including the special côte unique finish on the bridges. Although apparently simple to achieve, its execution requires great precision and skill, and is the result of a combination of meticulously controlled technique and manual gestures. The technique behind the côte unique finish, used by Vacheron Constantin over a century ago, was rediscovered in 2021 during the reproduction of the Historiques American 1921 watch. The gauge 2162 QP/270 è also awarded the Hallmark of Geneva.

Traditionnelle Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar: an exclusive dial

The dial is hand-guilloché engraved with a motif celebrating the 270th anniversary of the House.

The silver-plated gold dial of the Traditionnelle Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar is distinguished by its sophisticated handmade guilloché decoration, a distinctive motif created especially to celebrate the 270th anniversary of the Maison. Inspired by the Maltese cross, the emblem of Vacheron Constantin since 1880, this decoration originates from the design that adorned the dial of reference 6068 in 1955, created to celebrate the company's bicentenary.
