In the new Traditionnelle Chronograph Perpetual Calendar, Vacheron Constantin combines two complications that are symbols of Haute Horlogerie: the chronograph and the perpetual calendar. The round case of the Traditionnelle collection combines the Maison's founding values of tradition and elegance of form with the mastery of horological complications. The distinctive elements of the collection are present in every single detail, from the stepped case with the typical fluted motif on the case back, to the Dauphine hands, to the "chemin de fer" minute track. A white tachymeter scale distinguishes the dial and accentuates the technical character of the watch. To make it easier to read the indications, the dial features different shades of grey with different finishes depending on the functions, in line with the aesthetics of Vacheron Constantin chronographs from the 1940s. The small seconds and chronograph minute counters are set on a slate-coloured opaline base and feature a circular satin-finished ring with a blued centre. The moon-phase disc in 22-carat gold, positioned at the centre of the date display with its dark grey border, is hand-finished in keeping with the tradition of craftsmanship cultivated by Vacheron Constantin and offers a symbolic representation of the moon that alternates between a smiling and a melancholy face, depending on the phase. It is a refined homage to historical pocket watches. The careful aesthetic research is matched by the technical development of the Traditionnelle chronograph movement with perpetual calendar. The calibre 1142 QP, in fact, is a state-of-the-art movement entirely designed and developed in-house, and replaces the previous 1141 QP. The new movement animates the perpetual calendar - with displays for the date, day, month, leap years and moon phases - and the chronograph with seconds in the centre and a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, while the small seconds are positioned on the opposite side at 9 o'clock. This new model in the Traditionnelle collection perfectly manages the calendar with all its variations without the need for any adjustment until 1 March 2100.
