The virtuous coexistence of the classic and the modern is the hallmark of the Traditionnelle Tourbillon Retrograde Openface: from the contemporary decorations, but made using traditional techniques. to the choice of the unprecedented combination of tourbillon and retrograde date display. An approach that, combined with the historical heritage of Vacheron Constantincan give rise to endless and amazing innovations.
The Traditionnelle Tourbillon Retrograde Openface is inspired by Reference 47247 from 2002, which in turn featured a retrograde date display on a skeleton dial, developed and perfected by the company from the Art Deco period, when it was a technical novelty and allowed designers to come up with novel solutions.
The skeleton dial makes it possible to observe the various levels on which it is structured, starting with the tourbillon with its Maltese Cross-shaped cage, passing through the plate with its vertically striped guilloché work and the retrograde date mechanism, to the arc of a circle with radial knurling.
The brand logo stamped on the inside of the crystal at the 3 o'clock position accentuates the three-dimensionality, while details such as the dauphine hands, the Maltese cross on the tourbillon and the case design itself immediately evoke the canons of classic and elegant watchmaking.
The movement is the manufacture calibre 2162 R31. It is here that tradition and innovation come together to create the unprecedented combination of the two complications, made even more contemporary by the slate grey hue obtained with the NAC surface treatment of the bridges and plate.
In order to keep the thickness of the movement within 6.25 mm, a peripheral oscillating weight was adopted, finished and decorated like all the other components, a necessary requirement for obtaining the Geneva hallmark, visible from the back. Once again, the Maison manages to impress by enhancing its technical tradition with a contemporary aesthetic approach.
