The latest exclusive version of the Overseas Tourbillon uses a titanium case and bracelet, combined with a blue dial, typical of the collection.
The latest version of the Overseas Tourbillon by Vacheron Constantin sports a 42.5 mm diameter by 10.39 mm thick case made of grade 5 titanium. The same material is also used for the integrated bracelet, with triple-blade folding clasp.
Titanium is a light and strong metal whose hypoallergenic properties make it ideal for sports and technical watches. Created in 1996 and revisited eight years later, Vacheron Constantin's Overseas collection is the sportiest of the Geneva-based company's collections. Presented by the Maison in 2022, the first watch made entirely of titanium was indeed an Overseas tourbillon, but in a skeleton version.
The Overseas Tourbillon is also equipped with a soft-iron inner ring to protect the movement from the negative influences of magnetic fields on the regularity of travel. This is the manufacture calibre 2160, ultra-thin automatic winding, which has a thickness of 5.65 mm.
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon in titanium: elegance and sportiness
The use of titanium gives this exclusive watch with its flying tourbillon device a sportier allure, while remaining within the realm of maximum exclusivity.
The translucent blue lacquered dial with satin-finished sunray flange highlights the double minute track, has an opening at 6 o'clock, at the flying tourbillon. The manufacture calibre 2160 is visible through the sapphire crystal on the back.
This ultra-flat movement is equipped with a 22-carat gold peripheral oscillating weight and guarantees a power reserve of 80 hours. The construction without a central rotor offers the advantage of a view of the entire movement and its fine finishing. The plate is circular-grained, the bridges are decorated with côtes de Genève anglé by hand, the tourbillon bar is hand-polished, the wheels are circular-grained and the screws chamfered and polished. The frequency is 2.5 Hz (18,000 vibrations per hour); also noteworthy is the tourbillon cage in the shape of a Maltese cross, attached by a blued screw.
In addition to the integrated titanium bracelet, this Overseas Tourbillon also comes with two additional blue straps, in calfskin and rubber, also with grade 5 titanium folding clasp. The straps can be easily alternated with the bracelet without tools. Finally, water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 5 atmospheres.
