The 'home' of the Glashütte Original, a famous Saxon manufacturer that became part of the Swatch Group in 2000, is a modern, spacious building designed according to the principles of functional architecture and located in the town from which it takes its name, Glashütte, near Dresden, which most represents the German watchmaking tradition.
The oldest tradition, with roots going back almost two hundred years, and the most modern technology. This is how Glashütte Original watches, with an unbroken history dating back to 1845, are born: from a balanced combination of past and present. This is also reflected in its location.
It is here that the brand conceives and produces its watches almost entirely in-house, carrying out many stages by hand. Thousands of precision components are produced and assembled under one roof. In addition, Glashütte Original is also one of the few watch manufacturers to produce its dials, which are elaborately handmade, completely in-house.
This patient and meticulous work takes place in a building of ample proportions where the rooms are all characterised by clear structures and transparent materials. Over 10,000 square metres of floor space, organised on four floors, with several ateliers, workshops and specialised departments where experts work together in a perfectly synchronised system.
From those who do the design to those who manufacture components, from those who work on final assembly to those who work in the tooling workshops; not forgetting the specialists in the machine shop or the dial masters.
