A daring reinterpretation of the 1971 Sideral S watch, known for its iconic yellow rubber strap and unique innovative clasp system, this new model combines cutting-edge materials with a vintage, lively, sporty and fashionable aesthetic.
Tissot now chooses forged carbon for the 41 mm case, a material just as light as the fibreglass used in the 1970s model, combined with a unidirectional rotating bezel in black PVD with graduation for diving and the start of a regatta.
There are three variants available, with three perforated rubber straps (with a quick-change system) playing on shades of yellow, red and blue, and adopting the same fastening system as in the early days.
This particular system, which we could call interlocking, is based on two elements that fit into the holes of the strap.
Also similar to the vintage model is the graphics on the dial (protected by a domed sapphire crystal) which, as in the past, shows a regatta countdown design in green and red. Hands and indexes are SuperLuminova luminescent and a date window opens at 3 o'clock.
With a water-resistance rating of 300 metres, Tissot's new Sideral is powered by the Powermatic 80 calibre (25.6 mm diameter, 21,600 vibrations per hour, 23 jewels), a self-winding mechanical movement with Nivachron balance spring and 80-hour power reserve, and equipped with a new skeletonised and personalised rotor. The movement is visible from the back side, which is steel and screwed down.
