TAG Heuer x Porsche

TAG Heuer and Porsche join forces to inaugurate a major partnership ranging from racing to product development. Celebrating this bond is the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph, the first in a series of models that promises to be long and full of surprises. The TAG Heuer DNA is evident from the very first glance, thanks to the case which, despite its size typical of the latest trends (44 mm), is faithful to the design of the 1960s Carrera, with its square case middle and lugs. For the rest, it is a balanced mix of the style and canons typical of historic Heuer and Stuttgart cars. It is topped by the Porsche logo on the black ceramic bezel with the tachymeter scale printed in white. The dark grey dial, with its rough, grainy finish, imitates the asphalt, the scene of the many motor races in which the paths of the two brands have crossed. The small seconds at 6 o'clock have a black, polished surface, as do the chronograph hour and minute counters, which are larger and have a raised peripheral ring. The main hands have the same design as the Carrera classics, while the black gold-plated indexes, applied and enhanced with SuperLuminova, do not show the hour numeral, but the minute numeral. A detail that, together with the sloping flange with the minute scale, the touches of red on the hands and chronograph totalisers and the entire graphic layout, is reminiscent of a sports car's instrument panel. Red also on the outside for the Porsche logo and the crown insert. The sapphire-glass back offers a full view of the movement - the in-house-manufactured Heuer Calibre 02, which provides an 80-hour power reserve with a single barrel - with its unusually red column wheel and black oscillating weight echoing the unmistakable shape of the Porsche three-spoke steering wheel. The black leather strap has two longitudinal stitches exactly like those that run along the dashboard and seats of the Carrera and effectively complete the automotive look. The watch is on sale as of this February at a price of €5,550 (also available in a version with a steel bracelet, which costs €5,700).
