The historic partnership between TAG Heuer and Porsche continues successfully. The latest watch born from this partnership is a tribute to the Porsche 963, a racing hypercar designed for endurance racing.
The historic partnership between Porsche and TAG Heuer recently gave birth to a new chronograph, produced in a limited series of only 963 pieces. This chronograph, with 44 mm satin-finished and polished steel case combined with a forged carbon bezel, incorporates several elements reminiscent of the world of Porsche.
As of luminescent Stuttgart House logo on the bezel itself (with tachymeter scale), via the skeletonised dial (reminiscent of the tubular shapes of Porsche racing cars) and the rotor, whose shape is a tribute to the steering wheels of German cars. Note also the engraving, on the underside of the case, of the inscription '963'.
The same Porsche logo is embossed on the side of the case, on a background with black DLC treatment. The same black DLC treatment is reserved for the pushers and crown. The aforementioned dial uses a font, for the Arabic numerals of the additional counters (for chrono minutes at 3 o'clock, continuous seconds at 6 o'clock and chrono hours at 9 o'clock), that recalls those on the dashboards of Porsche cars. A date window opens at 6 o'clock and near 4 o'clock we find an area coloured red, reference to the countdown of the starting procedure of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963: limited edition
The new chronograph is being produced in 963 numbered pieces, a clear homage to the Porsche 963 racing hypecar.
The new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 is individually numbered on the case back, closed with four screws. And which opens to view (thanks to the use of a sapphire crystal) the IWC-manufactured TH20-00 calibre (evolution of the Heuer 02 calibre, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 80-hour power reserve, column-wheel), mechanical with automatic winding.
Noteworthy, on the aforementioned dial (protected by a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal), the luminescent treatment of hands and hour markers, with blue emission, as well as the background of the date display. The auxiliary counters also have four blue luminescent notches, inspired by the LED headlights of the iconic Porsche 911.
Waterproof to a pressure of 10 atmospheres (100 metres), the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963 is paired with a integrated black rubber strap, with folding buckle equipped with safety buttons.
