TAG Heuer and Porsche have entered into a global partnership in 2021, aimed at celebrating the history and values of both brands. After two chronographs with a distinctly sporty style and a connected model, the fourth chapter of the collaboration is now represented by two limited edition chronographs with classic and slightly retro lines, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first Porsche 911 to bear the Carrera name: the RS 2.7. The two chronographs highlight the features that made both the car (launched in 1972) and the TAG Heuer-signed chronograph (launched in 1963) famous.Designed specifically for racing and rallying, the Carrera RS was the first 911 dedicated to motorsports named 'Carrera', a name that also caught Jack Heuer's imagination when he first heard of the Carrera Panamericana. The 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was produced in a range of 27 vibrant colours, two of which were chosen for today's TAG Heuer, namely red and blue. The colours stood out on certain details of the car, such as the five-spoke wheels, the Carrera and Porsche logos on the body panels and the continuous line on the side.
The two models are based on the Carrera chronograph with a 42 mm case with a tricompax layout: the chrono minute and hour counters at 3 and 9 o'clock are combined with continuous seconds and a date display at 6 o'clock. The watches are driven by the in-house Heuer calibre 02 with an 80-hour power reserve.
Visible through the sapphire crystal case back, the oscillating weight is personalised with the Porsche three-spoke steering wheel and features the logos of the two brands side by side. The blue model (500 pieces) has a steel case, while the red model (250 pieces) has an 18-carat 5N red gold case.
Prices7,450 euros (steel case); 22,300 euros (red gold case).
