TAG Heuer returns to the reborn Aquaracer Professional series with the Aquaracer Professional 200, unveiled just a year after the Professional 300. Apart from the many similarities, first and foremost the revised dodecagonal bezel and the horizontal line dial decoration, there are several differences, such as the greater compactness of the 40 mm steel case (as opposed to the 43 mm), also available in a 30 mm version, and the bezel which, instead of having a ceramic insert, is now completely metallic. The differences continue in the geometry of the display: while the Aquaracer Professional 300 has octagonal indices, an oversized hour hand and yellow markers, the Aquaracer Professional 200 adopts the codes of the more classic sports watches with straight-edged trapezoidal indices, more tapered sword-shaped hands and crisp white markers.
The new Aquaracer Professional 200 models offer a wide choice of movements. The 40 mm collection has two automatic and two quartz movements, while the 30 mm collection has two automatic and five quartz movements. This is a different feature from the Aquaracer Professional 300, which is only offered with an automatic mechanical movement. The choice of movement changes the design and functionality of the watch: the automatic models are distinguished by the smoky tint of the dials, the date windows and the SuperLuminova seconds hands, while the quartz models have no date display and by comparison have a reduced look. A feature shared by all the new Aquaracer Professional 200 models is the design of the caseback, featuring an engraved compass in place of the classic diver's helmet in the shape of a diving suit that has featured on the caseback of the Aquaracer since 2002.
Prices Aquaracer Professional 200: automatic 40 mm, €2,600; quartz 40 mm, €1,950; automatic 30 mm, €3,200; quartz 30 mm, €1,850 to €4,450.
