It is no coincidence that all watches made by Sylvain Pinaud, a new member of the Watchmakers' Academy of Independent Makers, are marked 'Hand Made'.
Sylvain Pinaud made his haute horlogerie debut with his Chronograph Monopoussoir, presented in 2018, winner of the prestigious Meilleur Ouvrier de France competition. After three years of research, design and development, it presented its new watch in March 2021: Origine, its first truly commercial creation. In November 2022, Origine won the GPHG award for 'Horological Revelation'. Since April 2024, Pinaud has been an official member of the AHCI (Watch Academy of Independent Makers).
This elegant three-hand watch has a horizontal, asymmetrical dial layout and a large chronometric balance at 6 o'clock with a hand-polished bridge. A layout that is an invitation to explore the intricate architecture of the movement. The complex multi-layered silvered dial plays on extraordinary contrasts and finishes to offer perfect legibility. Particular attention has been paid to the design of the blued hour and minute hands. Their classic shape juxtaposes perfectly with the three-dimensional openwork design of the Origine.
After three years of research, design and development, Sylvain Pinaud presented the Origine, a hand-wound mechanical three-hander, in 2021.

Origine is also offered in a variant with pink gold hands and balance bridge. The overall aesthetic is pure and pays homage to the know-how and finesse of watchmaking in the past, with a contemporary touch. We emphasise that all components are handmade in Sylvain Pinaud's atelier, by the watchmaker himself, using vintage production machinery to honour the traditions of small-scale watchmaking.
Pinaud places a strong emphasis on hand-finishing every single component of the Origine, without no compromise on the quality of the finish on every part of the calibre, a traditional and time-consuming job that takes into account the highest criteria of excellence and gives the feeling of a bespoke watch. It is no coincidence that the words 'Handmade' are added to the dial of each Sylvain Pinaud Origine.

Sylvain Pinaud: a great passion for traditional watchmaking but with an eye for contemporary design.
The 40 mm diameter by 11 mm thick 316L steel case is water-resistant to 3 atmospheres. The signature 'Sylvain Pinaud Artisan Horloger' can be seen on the visible case back, and the alternating finishes on the calibre can be admired, with perfectly polished recessed sharp angles. The variable-inertia balance visible at 6 has a diameter of 13.2 mm and is equipped with a balance spring with a Phillips terminal curve. The Origine comes with a calfskin strap.
