To celebrate the start of a lasting partnership, TAG Heuer and Nintendo have created a limited edition timepiece featuring the famous Super Mario character. The intrepid hero comes to life in this luxury smartwatch, with a dial that becomes livelier and more animated the more active the wearer. The animations are based on the gamification reward system: Mario greets the user with a welcome greeting in the morning and, as time and steps accumulated progress, offers a different animation on the watch face as each stage of the daily goal (25%, 50%, 75% and 100%) is reached. These animations take the form of famous Super Mario objects: at 3 o'clock the Super Mushroom that makes Mario grow, at 6 o'clock the Tube that allows him to travel fast and at 9 o'clock the Super Star that makes him invincible. When the 100% daily step target is reached, Mario climbs the Flagpole, another iconic feature of the video game. The interactive interface (which will be pre-installed on the TAG Heuer Connected Super Mario Limited Edition, but TAG Heuer will also make it available for other TAG Heuer Connected editions at a later stage) has been completely redesigned in Super Mario colours and features four redesigned dials that include details associated with the superhero. The Timekeeping dial sports a new graphic made with retro elements from the 1985 version of Super Mario Bros., with pixelated Mario. In addition, two versions of the Heuer 02 dial have been created exclusively for this edition: a fun interpretation with Super Mario's iconic red and blue colours, and a more classic one with delicate red hints of Super Mario's cap. Finally, the neural network of the Orbital dial has been replaced by the iconic Super Mario elements revolving around a mesmerising movement. Externally, the TAG Heuer Connected Limited Edition has also been redesigned, with the bezel notches, pushers and crown logo now proposed in the lacquered red colour of Super Mario's cap. The bezel features three iconic symbols at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, hinting at the Super Mario objects included in the dial animations that the user can only unlock and discover when he or she achieves certain goals throughout the day. The new steel case is fitted with two interchangeable straps, both red in colour: one in black leather on a red rubber and a sporty alternative in perforated red rubber. Mario's M is engraved on the strap buckles and crown. Finally, the screw-down case back bears the special inscription "TAG Heuer x Super Mario Limited Edition". The watch comes in a box designed exclusively for this collaboration and also comes with a Super Mario red travel case. In a limited run of 2,000 pieces, it will only be available in selected TAG Heuer boutiques and on www.tagheuer.com in certain regions, from 15 July 2021.
