The young Italian brand CMC made its debut last year with a diver equipped with a GMT function with an original design and excellent value for money.
CMC, Creazioni Meccaniche Cronometriche, is an independent Italian brand founded in Florence in mid-2023. The first model, christened Subarno GMTis a high-performance diver, enhanced by the indication of a second time zone.
But its main feature is undoubtedly its design, which mixes new lines and references to the past, such as Dauphine-shaped hands enhanced with SuperLuminova, or the stylised lily of Florence in the logo.
The 40.8 mm steel case withstands a pressure of 50 atmospheres and is equipped with a helium escape valve. There are two dial versions: black and blue, both on two levels, with a shaded outer band and applied hour markers.
Chronometric Mechanical Creations: the Subarno GMT diver
The watch is powered by a Swiss Made movement, the Landeron L24 GMT automatic calibre.
For the movement, concealed by the case back, was chosen the Landeron L24 GMT calibre, Swiss Made, with second time zone indication, 28,800 vibrations per hour, with 28 rubies and 40-hour power reserve.
The aesthetics play on the symmetry of the double crown (the one at 9 o'clock is actually the helium valve) and the truncated cone profile which characterises the crowns themselves, the rotating bezel and, indirectly, also the first link of the bracelet due to its trapezoidal shape. All the edges of the case are bevelled, while the bracelet has a mixed polished and brushed finish. The price is 1,700 euros.
CMC's attention to detail can also be found in the packaging: not an ordinary box, but a steel cylinder resistant to the pressure of 100 atmospheres that can be considered a true time capsule. Website: www.cmcwatches.com; Instagram: @cmcwatchesitaly.
