Seiko launches two new chronographs to enrich the Prospex Speedtimer collection, tribute to the great tradition in sports timing of the Japanese manufacturer. These two new watches echo the design of the 1972 Speedtimer in a 42 mm steel case with an extra hard coating, a multi-link bracelet (with triple folding clasp and safety button) and a highly readable 'panda' style dial. The red-tipped chrono seconds hand is an explicit reference to the original model. The dials of these two new versions are also inspired by as many iconic models that have made Seiko history.

In particular, The Prospex Speedtimer with Ref. 'SRQ051J1 draws its inspiration from a 1973 Seiko 'Sunrise' chronograph, and presents a shades of blue on the dial reminiscent of the colour of the sky at dawn. The Prospex Speedtimer with Ref. SRQ053J1, for its part, pays homage to the Seiko 'Reverse Panda' of 1972, and employs a shiny black dial with silver-plated counters.

Hands and indexes are coated with Lumibrite, to ensure perfect readability even in low-light conditions. The dials, protected by a curved anti-reflective sapphire crystal, show the classic 3 additional counters, as well as the date window between 4 and 5 o'clock and the tachymeter scale on the flange.

The escapement also employs MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) technology, which improves stability and precision.Prospex SpeedtimerThe bracelet, composed of fine central links, allows a high degree of fluidity of movement while supporting the weight of the case to ensure optimal comfort on the wrist. The chrono buttons have been redesigned to optimise performance and functionality. Water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 10 atmospheres.
