From the tenebrous driver in Drive to the singer and dancer in the Oscar-nominated film La La Land, Ryan Gosling has proven to be a very versatile actor. Moreover, his performances reveal a willingness to constantly challenge himself and push his own limits. TAG Heuer recently announced the signing of Ryan Gosling as brand ambassador, a first for the star. "We are thrilled to announce that Ryan Gosling will be an international TAG Heuer brand ambassador for his first ever collaboration with a brand. A star since the beginning of his career, he has become an icon both enigmatic and impenetrable. He is an authentic artist who chooses his projects with extreme care, dedicating body and soul to shaping not only his character, but his entire artistic direction. The film Drive represents the strongest link to who we are today and we are very excited about the creative projects we are working on,' said TAG Heuer CEO Frédéric Arnault. For his part, Gosling said: "For over one hundred and sixty years, quietly and uninterruptedly, TAG Heuer has established itself as a classic and iconic pillar of excellence in its fields. Starting a collaboration with the brand was an easy decision and, in general, I often think about time at the moment. My children are growing up so fast and I keep an eye on the clock like I didn't used to do before'. In just three years, the actor has gone from the aforementioned musical La La Land (which won 14 Academy Award nominations and earned Ryan Gosling a Golden Globe) to the sci-fi revival Blade Runner 2049 (co-starring Harrison Ford) and the biographical film First Man (in which Gosling played astronaut Neil Armstrong). At the same time as announcing Ryan Gosling as its new brand ambassador, TAG Heuer also unveiled the new generation of one of its iconic watches: the Carrera. The new Carrera collection includes 13 models in four versions: the Carrera Day Date 41 mm, the Carrera Twin-Time Date 41 mm, the Carrera Date 39 mm and the Carrera Date 29 mm. The aim of charismatic CEO Jack Heuer, with the introduction of the Heuer Carrera chronograph in 1963, was to create a no-frills watch, ideal for drivers who needed to tell the time quickly. Legend has it that the company's obsession with legibility began in 1958, when Jack Heuer dropped from first to third place in a Swiss rally he was taking part in because he could not read the dashboard timer correctly. The Heuer Carrera, introduced five years later, was radically different from any watch the company had produced before, as it adopted a clear, minimalist design to offer unparalleled readability. Even in the new models, which we will come back to in the future, readability is one of the key points.
