After many indiscretions, hypotheses and predictions, Rolex has finally unveiled the new 2020 models. First of all, the new Submariner, which was already in everyone's expectations. With a new movement, a case enlarged by one millimetre (41 mm) and tapered lugs. And, finally, with the long-awaited blue bezel combined with the black dial, but only in the white gold version. The calibres 3235 (already used on the DateJust) and 3230 (presented this year for the version without a date) feature the paramagnetic Parachrom balance spring, Paraflex shock-absorption device, Chronergy escapement with optimised efficiency, paramagnetic nickel-phosphorous pallet fork and escape wheel and, finally, an extended power reserve of 70 hours.
The new date-less version features Oystersteel in combination with a black dial and rotating bezel with a black Cerachrom disc. For the Submariner Date, on the other hand, the yellow Rolesor declination combines a royal blue dial and a rotating bezel with a blue Cerachrom disc. Two other declinations of the Date, one in Oystersteel, the other in white gold, see the introduction of two colours: the first associates a black dial and green bezel, the second (mentioned above) a black dial and blue bezel.
There is also a change of movement for the Oyster Perpetual, following the introduction of the new 41 mm diameter size. The same calibre 3230 used in the Submariner is now used on these and the 36 mm models. As of this year, all models are fitted with an Oyster bracelet with an Easylink system for summer/winter adjustment down to 5 mm. The entire collection is then enriched with new dials, from the more classic silvered soleil with gold indexes for the 41 mm model, to dials in the typical brighter Rolex colours (pink, light turquoise, yellow, coral red and green), but lacquered instead of soleil or mother-of-pearl, in the 36 mm version.
New versions also for the DateJust 31 mm which, unlike the larger diameter versions, uses Calibre 2236, with a Syloxi silicon balance spring, paramegnetic nickel-phosphorous escapement wheel, Paraflex shock absorber and 55-hour power reserve.
Another novelty is the Oysterflex bracelet, now also used on the Skydweller (the Rolex annual calendar), of which a yellow gold version with a black dial has been launched.
Rolex Italia has already started delivering the new models to dealers for the steel versions, while the gold or Rolesor (steel and gold) models will have to wait until the end of the year.
