If 2018 had marked the return of the GMT-Master II with Pepsi bezel, this year Rolex returned to the theme by reissuing the so-called Batman, which owes its name to the black and blue ceramic disc, the same colours as the famous superhero. It also put an end to rumours that the model was out of production a few years after its launch. In the wake of the success of the Pepsi, a new generation of the GMT-Master II in steel is confirmed with the Batman, which henceforth abandons the Oyster bracelet for the Jubilé bracelet and sees the black bezel version discontinued. The Oyster bracelet remains in the catalogue only for the precious metal variants. The movement is the automatic calibre 3285, introduced with the GMT-Master II for the first time in 2018 and the subject of ten patents, with a blue Parachrom balance spring and Chronergy escapement, to increase its precision and resistance. Thanks to the new barrel architecture and the superior performance of its escapement, the calibre boasts a power reserve of around 70 hours.
