Produced in only eight pieces, the Excalibur Spider Countach White Mineral Composite Fiber 47 mm is a tribute to the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 (produced in 112 pieces), unveiled in 2021 to celebrate 50 years since the launch of the legendary Italian supercar.
The watch employs an impressive 47 mm case made of Mineral Composite Fibre (MCF) in the colour Bianco Siderale, a shade that Ferruccio Lamborghini specifically wanted for his Countach. This high-strength material consists of 99.95% silica and is produced using the intrusion moulding process (SMC). It is also 2.5 times lighter than ceramic and 13% lighter than SMC carbon.
There are several references to the design of the new Lamborghini Countach in the watch, including the 'flange' visible on the dial side and placed between the two tourbillon devices. The latter are inclined 90° to each other, so as to compensate for the negative effects of the earth's gravity not only horizontally, but also vertically.
The movement used is the IWC-manufactured RD112 calibre (40.8 mm diameter, 10.4 mm thick, 295 components, 21,600 vib/h, 72-hour power reserve), mechanical with automatic winding.
Note the details in red and black, reminiscent of the interior of the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4, which can also be seen on the inside of the white rubber strap, equipped with a titanium folding clasp and Quick Release System quick-change device.
