Richard Mille presents the new RM 74-02 Tourbillon with a bezel and back made of an exclusive new material that fuses gold and quartz fibres.
Richard Mille expands the RM 74 collection with the new RM 74-02 with a bezel and back made of an exclusive, new material: Quartz TPT gold. This composite, developed in collaboration with the Swiss company North Thin Ply Technology, represents the fusion of the resilience of quartz and the elegance of gold.
The process of creating this new material is as complex as it is fascinating. Thin sheets of quartz fibres are meticulously stacked and then subjected to a pressure of 6 bar at a temperature of 120°. 22-carat 5N red gold leaves are then inserted between these layers, creating a unique visual weave where the warm glow of gold is manifested through translucent quartz.
This exclusive Richard Mille material perfectly embodies the brand's philosophy: innovation as a vehicle for emotion. The central part of the case of the RM 74-02, with its Quartz TPT gold bezel and back, is made of 18-carat 5N red gold. With dimensions of 52.63 x 34.40 mm, the case is water-resistant to 50 metres thanks to two nitrile toric seals and is assembled with 20 grooved screws made of grade 5 titanium.
The CRMT5 calibre: mechanical heart of excellence
The manufacture calibre CRMT5, a mechanical self-winding movement, is equipped with a tourbillon device.
Pulsating inside the RM 74-02 is the sophisticated CRMT5 calibre (28,800 vibrations per hour), an automatic mechanical movement with tourbillon device made entirely in the Richard Mille manufacture. The 5N 18-carat red gold plate and 3N 18-carat yellow gold bridges make up a skeletonised structure of great technical complexity.
The adjustable geometry rotor is made of red gold and platinum. The barrel's rapid winding system, combined with the gears with profiled involute teeth, ensures a power reserve of around 50 hours.
Every detail of the RM 74-02 Tourbillon Automatic is the result of meticulous craftsmanship. The chamfered inner bezel with its festooned profile harmoniously accompanies the lines of the movement, while the hand-crafted finishing enhances the aesthetic features. As an evolution of the previous version in Carbon TPT gold, this new model represents the perfect union between science and art, confirming Richard Mille as one of the brands pioneering the use of innovative materials and avant-garde techniques in the world of haute horlogerie.
