Richard Mille RM 65-01 Split-Second Chronograph Automatic

The RM 65-01 represents the brand's technical approach through the combination of several additional functions, a specific architecture and a very high quality standard. Its chronograph movement is equipped with a high-frequency 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz) variable-inertia balance, which allows for superior chronometric regularity over the long term and a more precise measurement of short times, with readings down to one-tenth of a second. A true 'racing engine', also equipped with a split-seconds function for displaying intermediate times. Developed in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, the movement is extremely efficient thanks to its chronograph section architecture with a 6-column wheel and vertical coupling. The plate, made of grade 5 titanium, is closed at the top by bridges also made of grade 5 titanium. The fast-rotating barrel, for its part, ensures an ideal torque in the transmission of energy throughout the 60-hour power reserve. The automatic winding of the barrel spring contributes to maintaining constant torque when the watch is worn. This is also made possible by the adjustable geometry rotor, which offers the possibility of modifying its inertia for better winding efficiency of the mainspring depending on the more or less dynamic habits of the watch wearer. In addition, for the first time at Richard Mille, a rapid winding device has been developed and patented, activated by a push-button at 8 o'clock. With 125 presses, the mainspring is fully wound, ready to measure the time of a new event. The RM 65-01 has also been enhanced with a new function selector integrated in the winding crown. By simply pressing the push-button in the centre of the crown, it allows the user to alternate between the "traditional" manual winding (W), date setting (D) and time setting (H) functions. For perfect legibility of the dial, the RM 65-01 adopts colour codes according to the watch's functions, colours that are also found on the push-buttons. Yellow is reserved for the hour, minute and small seconds indications at 6 o'clock; green refers to the date; orange is used for the chronograph with its central seconds hand and 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers. Finally, the case offers an extremely high level of finishing. Made of TPT carbon (bezel, central part and back with visible movement), it is fitted with a micro-bead-blasted, polished and satin-finished grade 5 titanium crown, with the chronograph pushers also in polished and satin-finished grade 5 titanium. The same material and finish is used for the RM 65-01 engraved plaque inserted on the side opposite the crown between the split-seconds hand and rapid winding pusher, which is made of red TPT quartz. The RM 65-01, available in TPT carbon or gold and TPT carbon, is made up of over 600 components, further testimony to the great expertise of Richard Mille's technicians and specialists.
