Interest in vintage watchmaking has never been so high. A phenomenon of this magnitude deserved a professional approach that went beyond mere buying and selling. VO Vintage was born in 2020, precisely to give enthusiasts the opportunity to meet in a pleasant and safe environment to do some good business. But above all to discover all the history, technique and work, in a word the culture, that lies behind the watch object. From 9 to 11 September, the third edition will be open to the public in the same venue as Vicenzaoro, of which it is an emanation.
Marco Carniello, Director of Jewellery & Fashion at Italian Exhibition Group Spa, tells us how the idea came about: "Italy has always played a central role in watchmaking and also in the recent rediscovery of vintage. So it was the right time to launch a new format that would focus on culture and no longer on trade".
VO Vintage is a fair dedicated to professionals, but not only: "It will be an event open to all enthusiasts who, in addition to purchasing pieces from top exhibitors, will be able to participate in the talks and sessions that we have organised with important collectors, scholars and experts in the sector. All this in a comfortable environment, which we like to call a salon, and in the maximum safety guaranteed by the Vicenzaoro structure".
This year's programme includes real master classes, held by the renowned Professor Ugo Pancani, with a certificate for participants. In addition, there will be debates on the past and future of the sector with collectors such as Sandro and Giulio Fratini, Alessandro Squarzi and Maurizio De Angelis. There will also be talks on technique and aesthetics with Mo Coppoletta, Auro Montanari and Luca Soprana, as well as the Speedmaster exhibition, organised by Andrea Foffi and introduced by a debate moderated by our director Dody Giussani, who will be the protagonist of some meetings with enthusiasts. And for those who will not be able to visit the fair? "We are implementing the social part, which allows anyone to follow the events even from a distance and especially involves the young public, the one that is showing us an interest beyond expectations".
