Rado - DiaMaster Grande Seconde

Two large counters intertwine: the Rado DiaMaster Grande Seconde displays the hours and minutes on the right and an oversized small seconds display on the left. It is made of high-tech plasma ceramic, manufactured and patented by Rado, which has a metallic sheen achieved without the use of any metal. Hi-tech plasma ceramic is white in colour when it begins its life cycle. The plasma crystallisation process involves the introduction of some finished ceramic elements into a furnace, where the material reaches temperatures of up to 900°C and the gases activated at 20,000°C change the molecular structure of the ceramic, allowing a metallic colour to emerge. The warm-toned metallic lustre of plasma ceramics will not fade over time. All the properties of hi-tech ceramics remain unchanged: it is scratch-resistant, lightweight, hypoallergenic.
