The Watches and Wonders and side events: what to do in Geneva from 27 March to 1 April.

On Monday 27 March, the doors open to the Watches and Wonders in Geneva, the most important international watch fair. I have a busy week ahead of me, with 48 brands launching their 2023 collections.

The second edition of the Geneva event after the pandemic brings with it several novelties. First of all, the opening to the public on the final two days, Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 April (have you already bought your tickets on the website?). And then the expansion of the event outside the Palexpo, where it has traditionally been held since 1991 (when it was still called SIHH), with the involvement of the city's boutiques.

Here, the Houses will host novelty presentations, exhibitions of historical models and watchmaking savoir-faire demonstrations. On 30 March, the venues will exceptionally remain open until 9 p.m. and at the Pont de la Machine, where Lake Geneva narrows to plunge into the Rhone River, there will be a conference on 'Geneva, Switzerland and Watchmaking', open to all by registration.

As Switzerland's only major watch fair, the Watches and Wonders also attracts genuine side events. Thus, from 27 March to 1 April, one can choose to visit Time to Watches at the Haute école d'art et de design, a show with 46 independent exhibitors.

Or the 'Masters of Horology' exhibition, which brings together the 35 master watchmakers of the AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants) and of which we are proud partners. Or the numerous exhibitions in the lakeside hotels, from the Beau Rivage to the President Wilson.

It promises to be a real watchmaking binge. If you really can't make a trip across the Alps, follow me online, on orologioblog.net, Instagram and Facebook, to get a taste of Geneva Watch Week.
