In both the Tonda GT and Tondagraph GT, the shape of the case and other design details are derived from the 2016 Tonda Chronor Anniversaire, which not only adopted the first integrated chronograph calibre made by Parmigiani Fleurier, but also received the best chronograph award at the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève in 2017. Compared to the Tonda Chronor Anniversaire, however, the Tonda GT features updated drop-shaped lugs for improved ergonomics and an integrated bracelet in the same materials and finish as the case. The two new additions to the Tonda GT collection today both come from the Tondagraph GT and feature two-tone dials. In particular, the Tondagraph GT Steel Silver Black uses a 42 mm case in polished and satin-finished steel and is water-resistant to a pressure of 10 atmospheres. The silver and black guilloché-engraved dial houses rhodium-plated hour markers treated with a black luminescent coating, the iconic Delta hands, supplementary subdials, a double-window date display at 12 o'clock and a month display at 3 o'clock. Like its predecessor with a black dial, the watch houses the PF043 automatic calibre (30 mm diameter, 7.4 mm thick, 443 components, 56 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 45-hour power reserve), a self-winding mechanical movement equipped with chronograph and annual calendar functions. The calibre itself is visible through the sapphire glass back, which also shows the 22-carat gold rotor. "With this new model, we wanted to enhance the contrast between the counters and the silver dial," says Guido Terreni, CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier. "Eliminating the orange indicators of the first edition helped us achieve a pure and lasting aesthetic." The second recently presented Tondagraph GT is the Rose Gold Silver Black. Like the new steel model, there are two versions: with an integrated bracelet or with a vulcanised black rubber strap. With a diameter of 42 mm, the 18-carat rose gold case features polished and brushed finishes and the fluted bezel frames the high-contrast dial. Inside the Tondagraph GT Rose Gold Silver Black, visible through a sapphire crystal caseback, is the in-house PF071 calibre (30.6 mm diameter, 8 mm thick, 331 components, 42 jewels, 36,000 vibrations per hour, 65-hour power reserve, Cosc chronometer), a self-winding mechanical movement based on the revolutionary, award-winning PF361 calibre. Although this version of the Tondagraph does not have the annual calendar functionality, it does feature the large date at 12 o'clock. Like all Parmigiani Fleurier movements, the PF071 calibre is embellished with hand-chamfered and polished surfaces, sandblasted surfaces, a sunburst motif on the 22-carat gold oscillating weight and hand-finished bridges. Each component is made in-house at Parmigiani Fleurier. "The arrival of the Tonda GT line has broadened our audience and rejuvenated the existing collection to meet more modern tastes," says Guido Terreni. "Its birth gave the brand a boost in a very difficult year and offers many new potential customers the opportunity to approach Parmigiani Fleurier. The classic aesthetics of a silver and black dial, a monochrome steel or gold case and an integrated bracelet bring more freshness to the collection, and the subtle improvements on these new models show how we can make them even more refined."
