What happens when Panerai joins forces with a benchmark gaming brand like Razer? What happens is that their collaboration can provide new opportunities in advancing their shared focus on actions in support of the environment. Back in 2021, at RazerCon 2021, Razer's digital event dedicated to everything revolving around gaming and beyond, the two brands decided to join forces in support of projects to safeguard the oceans. And now the partnership continues with a new dedicated watch: the Luminor Quaranta Razer Special Edition, available in only 500 pieces exclusively in Panerai boutiques and on Panerai.com.
The logical consequence was that the watch in question was made with a case in e-Steel, Panerai's recycled steel, in this case coated with a black Dlc treatment, on which the electric green of the small seconds hand and the strap stitching stand out, colours that represent Razer's distinctive codes. It also makes its presence felt with the three-headed snake logo on the case back and the Razer inscription on the crown protector bridge. In addition, the sandwich dial is distinguished by the grey SuperLuminova that glows green.
Powered by the P.900 calibre, with a 3-day power reserve, it includes the interchangeable strap system, which, following the theme of the initiative, is made of recycled PET from used plastic bottles. The case is also made for the 72% from recycled material.
Panerai and Razer also partnered with the non-profit environmental organisation Conservation International to support research on marine species. To date, research has led to the development of sustainable livelihood opportunities for coastal communities, the creation of new protected areas, and the modification of policies that protect marine species and the oceans that host them.
