Music to our ears with the watchmaker's Primo 4 timepiece Mermod Freresoriginating from Sainte-Croix, in the Swiss Jura valley, and owned by the Reuge brand, known for its handcrafted manufacture of music boxes, mechanical singing birds, pocket watches with and without automata, and musical movements. Previewed at the Basel Salon 2007, but officially launched at the last edition of the fair, the watch is powered by a hand-wound watch movement oscillating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of 40 hours, and a musical movement that offers the possibility of listening to four different melodies and can be customised to the customer's taste. The latter mechanism is operated by the push-button at 8 o'clock that rotates the four musical discs placed at the quarters, functioning like a juke-box. The edition is limited to 50 pieces for each colour of gold in the case (white, pink and yellow). The retail price is 104,000 Swiss francs.
