Oris - Carlos Coste Limited Edition Cenote Series Watches

674_7655_71_84With the special Carlos Coste Limited Edition Cenote Series, Oris celebrates the new Guinness World Record for free diving set by Venezuelan athlete Carlos Coste in 2010: he swam 150 metres underwater without breathing apparatus in Dos Ojos, a colossal cenote (a network of underwater caverns) stretching 31 miles under the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. All he had was a torch and a monofin. The watch is equipped with a minute counter that lights up in the dark to make it easier to read and indicate the time spent underwater. A triangle at the 2-minute marker reminds us of the exact spot where Carlos set his dynamic apnea record in 2'30", while another triangle at the 7-minute marker marks his static apnea record, set by holding his breath for 7'30". The bezel is made of scratch-resistant ceramic, a plus for all extreme sports enthusiasts eager to wear ultra-resistant accessories. The numbers and the triangle on the zero are made of SuperLuminova to ensure optimal luminosity in the dark, such as when diving in underwater caves. The caseback features the Carlos Coste logo and the number of the limited edition of 2,000 pieces. The movement is mechanical with automatic winding, ETA calibre 7750, with a red rotor.
