Oris continues its mission to improve the conservation of the planet's water, the source of life, with the new Lake Baikal Limited Edition, a timepiece created in collaboration with the Lake Baikal Foundation. Lake Baikal in Siberia is the largest source of fresh water, constituting 20% of the global fresh water supply. It is also the deepest lake in the world, with its deepest point at 1642 metres, and is the natural habitat for thousands of local plants and animals, representing a key ecosystem for Siberia. However, all of this is about to be threatened by man-made pollution, much of it due to careless industry. Funds raised from sales of the new Oris Lake Baikal Limited Edition will be donated to 'Point No1', a Lake Baikal conservation project run by the Scientific Research Institute of Biology at Irkutsk State University. The watch is made on the Oris Aquis high performance diver's watch and is limited to 1,999 pieces to commemorate the year Russia adopted the Baikal Law which safeguards the lake. This timepiece is presented in sustainable cardboard packaging. The Oris Lake Baikal LE, produced in a limited edition of 1,999 pieces, is available from February at authorised retailers at a price of €2,150.
