Oris Carl Brashear Cal. 401 Limited Edition

The Oris Carl Brashear Cal. 401 Limited Edition is the third watch created to celebrate the U.S. Navy's first African-American diver, Carl Brashear, and to support the Carl Brashear Foundation, which is dedicated to carrying out its mission of providing financial support to many vulnerable people. This new diver's watch is powered by a new manufactory-made, antimagnetic Oris movement with an impressive 5-day power reserve. Produced in a limited and numbered series of 2,000 pieces, this new watch has a 40 mm case made of bronze, a material chosen to recall the diving helmets worn by Carl during his service as a Master Diver in the U.S. Navy. Bronze is a natural material that reacts to oxygen in the air and moisture in the skin, generating a patina that over time will take on a unique appearance, telling the story of moments in the life of the wearer. Inside beats the already mentioned Calibre 401, a mechanical self-winding movement based on the Calibre 400, launched last year, which was designed from scratch by the Oris watchmakers. This calibre is covered by a 10-year warranty. The Oris Carl Brashear Cal. 401 Limited Edition is equipped with a naval-inspired blue dial (protected by a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal), a unidirectional rotating bronze bezel with an embossed diving scale, and a handmade, breathable, woven nylon stretch fabric strap custom-designed by Erika's Originals. Water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 10 atmospheres. Price: 3,700 euros.
