Oris returns to its series of jazz-related timepieces with a reference inspired by American jazz drummer and bandleader Art Blakey. Art was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1919 and became famous in the 1940s and 1950s playing alongside other jazz icons such as Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, all of whom were celebrated by Oris with limited edition watches. In the 1950s Art formed the Jazz Messengers and continued to play with them for more than three decades. He died in 1990 and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 2005. The watch dedicated to him, which is a solotempo automatic, features a dial decorated with eight of Art's bass drum hooks and a case back that refers to drum cymbals. This watch is produced in a limited edition of 1,000 pieces.
