Omega: the new Snoopy

Omega launches the new Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary. As a testament to its contribution to the success of manned flight missions and the glorious return of the Apollo 13 members, in 1970 the barnd was awarded the "Silver Snoopy Award", a sterling silver pin and certificate representing the highest honour bestowed on NASA astronauts. And the new Snoopy celebrates precisely 50 years of this great event. The protagonist is the image of Snoopy, wearing the space suit as on the brooch, which appears for the first time in relief on a silver medallion in the counter at 9 o'clock. The dial is also made of laser-engraved silver and features the other two counters at 3 and 6 o'clock in blue. Turning the back, the show begins. Thanks to an animated module (Command and Service Module), when the chronograph seconds hand is activated, Snoopy goes into orbit by taking a ride on the hidden side of the moon just like the Apollo 13 crew. The lunar surface is made of sapphire crystal thanks to an exclusive micro-structured metallisation technique. In the distance, the Earth is also represented with a rotating disc that rotates once in a minute, synchronised with the small seconds hand.
With a 42 mm steel case and blue ceramic bezel, it comes with a blue nylon strap embossed with the trajectory of the Apollo 13 mission on the lining. The movement is the Master Chronometer calibre 3861, certified by Metas. The good news is that it is not being produced in a limited edition. It will arrive in shops at the end of October 2020, priced at €9,700.
