New production site for IWC

IWC_Merishausen_4The new building, located in Merishausen, Switzerland, will be used both for the production of existing movements and for the manufacture of new calibres, including the famous 69000 family. Equipped with the latest production technology, this new manufacture will guarantee the highest levels of quality. "The strategic expansion of our manufacture calibres is a priority for us, so I am very pleased that everything is going according to plan. This is the largest investment in the company's history and underlines the fact that we firmly believe in the future of high-quality mechanical watches, which we have been producing for more than 150 years," explained Christoph Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC. The new building, with an area of 13,500 square metres, is also an opportunity to bring together production areas that were previously located in different places, and to optimise existing production flows and facilities. The production departments for crates and movement parts, which are still located at Neuhausen, will be relocated to the new building as of October 2017. Then in January 2018, the movement assembly department will also be moved from Schaffhausen to Merishausen. The official opening ceremony of the new production site is planned for June 2018.
