Nereide is a diver's watch water-resistant to 20 atmospheres, equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel on 120 snaps with a ring made of tungsten. In this new version, Venezianico equips it with a special dial made of aventurine glass. That of aventurine glass is a technique that owes its origins to the master craftsmen of Murano, and was born almost by chance in the 17th century.
It happened that these same masters mistakenly poured copper flakes into the molten glass paste, creating the particular effect that has survived to the present day. Naturally, this technique continued to be developed and refined, becoming in the course of time one of the most appreciated within the Venetian glass art.
The dial (protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal) features baton hands and three-dimensional geometric applied indexes treated with blue-green SuperLuminova, as well as a date window that opens in the canonical 3 o'clock position.
The 42 mm case of the Nereide Avventurina is made of steel, and has a screw-locked crown and a case back closed with 6 screws. The latter is engraved with the effigy of the submarine Nereide, launched by the Royal Italian Navy in 1913.
The new Nereide Avventurina is powered by the Sellita calibre SW-200-1 (Swiss Made, 28,800 vibrations per hour, 26 jewels, 38-hour power reserve, mechanical automatic. The watch comes with a blue Made in Italy rubber strap, shaped to blend in perfectly with the shape of the case. However, a Canova bracelet on three rows of links is also available for a slight price increase.
Prices950 euros (rubber strap); 1,025 euros (rubber strap + steel bracelet).
