For a long time now, the design of the Grande Seconde by Jaquet Droz has been among the most recognisable in the world of Haute Horlogerie. This new model, a worthy heir to the original collection, now unveils a new 41 mm diameter. An intermediate size, long awaited by collectors, which offered Jaquet Droz the opportunity to reinvent several design elements. The Grande Seconde Quantième must therefore be considered as a creation in its own right - certainly not a simple reduced version of an existing model. Everything, or almost everything, has been rethought. Starting with the case, redesigned to fit the new 41 mm diameter, the thickness of which has been reduced to give lightness and harmony to the timepiece and adapt it to its new dimensions. Unprecedented finishes have been specially created for this new collection. The 41 mm Grande Seconde Quantième offers a wide choice and features dials in Grand Feu enamel, the fruit of a traditional savoir-faire dear to Jaquet Droz and which has become emblematic of the Maison. These dials are now available in ivory as well as dark blue, burgundy and anthracite shades. Each of the nuances has been specifically designed for the new collection and is the result of extensive research into enamel powders and manual firing techniques, which has resulted in the exact colour variations desired. Finally, an 18-carat red gold appliqué highlights the calendar at 6 o'clock. The automatic movement used, manufactured and assembled by hand, guarantees almost three days of power reserve (68 hours). As in all the Maison's contemporary creations, isochronism is ensured by a silicon balance spring that makes the creation resistant to temperature variations, magnetic fields and shocks.
