That design is part of the DNA of Girard-Perregaux is now a given. After the round table promoted by the brand last year and held at the Lingotto in Turin, President Luigi Macaluso could not have chosen a more suitable place to present the new collections to the press. These include the new Bi-axial Tourbillon which, by combining two concentric cages, enables the regulating organ to perform rotations in different planes. An inner cage, which supports the balance, balance-spring and escapement, completes one complete revolution around its axis in forty-five seconds. An outer cage performs a revolution in one minute and fifteen seconds, allowing a rotation on a second axis. The complete revolution is then performed in three minutes and forty-five seconds. The two cages weigh only 0.80 grams, despite comprising over one hundred and ten components. The materials of the cages, which combine gold, steel and titanium, were chosen to ensure optimum balance and performance. The use of two coaxial barrels, each equipped with two springs, ensures a 72-hour power reserve and a constant flow of energy.
