Autobahn means 'motorway' in German, and the three new models that NOMOS Glashütte has named 'Director's Cut' (borrowing a typically cinematographic expression) are produced in a strictly limited run of just 175 pieces each. The colours of the three new pieces are due to designer Werner Aisslinger, who for the Autobahn Director's Cut A3 (white-orange-red), A7 (blue-yellow) and A9 (black-grey) has chosen colour combinations that are unprecedented for the collection, and which catch the eye at first glance. The semi-rigid steel bracelet (available only for these models) is a new design, and combines solid links with openworked links, while the clasp is of the folding type with safety push-buttons. The movement powering these new limited editions of the Autobahn (visible from the caseback side) is the NOMOS Glashütte manufacture calibre DUW 6101 (35.2 mm diameter, 27 jewels, power reserve of up to 42 hours), mechanical with automatic winding and just 3.6 mm thick, despite the presence of a date display. The dial, which unfolds on several levels and is protected by a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, features luminescent baton hands, bar and Arabic numeral hour markers, small seconds and a date window. The semi-circular zone at the top is luminescent in the dark, emitting a turquoise colour. Finally, water resistance is guaranteed up to a pressure of 10 atmospheres.
