Marc&Darnò is a young brand from Piedmont that has made the pure talent of its founders, Marco Guarino and Dario Nocentini, the leitmotif of its entire production. The two initially dedicated themselves to making a watch entirely Made in Italy, with the exception of the movement, which will soon be joined by exclusive workmanship, such as fire enamel for the dials. The watch in the photo, with a personalised champlevé enamel dial, is on sale for €9,500.
It is with the model christened Prototipo that Marc&Darnò enters the complication sector, thanks to the talents of Guarino, a watchmaker by training, a Rai technician at the Turin headquarters and a great astronomy enthusiast. A solotempo with an aluminium case, customisable in every part, including the movement, and equipped with moon phases whose mechanism requires a single correction every 122 years. Price: 3,800 euros.
The catalogue includes models with increasingly refined complications: annual calendars, moon phases with correction every 10,053 years, sidereal watches and watches with equation of time based on the meridian of residence, such as the model in the photo with indication of the equation of time at the meridian of reference and zodiac, on sale at €18,500. "For all our complications," they explain, "we start with an ETA 2824 movement on which we handcraft an additional plate which, by means of a system of gears, makes it possible to obtain the required indications. A haute horlogerie exercise that Guarino carries out in the brand's workshop in Asti, where customers can also personally work on the decorations.
The brand's production is limited to a few dozen pieces per year and distribution is via the brand's social networks. The model pictured, with moon phase display and correction every 10,053 years, is on sale for €3,800.
