The creations of Wolkov Design, a brand launched by William Volkoff in 2014, stand out for their originality. Everything revolves around an oval case with a crown at 12 o'clock, in which the lugs are replaced by two steel clips that clip onto the sides of the case middle in an extremely simple but equally secure manner. The watch thus remains free to swing, fitting comfortably on the wrist, even though the dimensions are generous. "Our first model," explains Volkoff, "had fixed lugs screwed to the case, then, playing with the various 3D prototypes, we realised that the quick release system could work, and so after a year of study and trial and error, we made it.
For the movement, the reliable Sellita mechanical self-winding SW 200 was chosen, with 28,800 vibrations per hour, 11.½ lignes (25.6 mm), 4, 6 mm thick, 26 jewels and 38 hours of power reserve.
Available with a steel case and white dial, steel and blue dial, and Pvd purple steel and black dial, the Wolkov Design-branded watch is on sale for $990 at www.wolkov.design.
