For over sixty years, Rolex has enjoyed a privileged relationship with the sailing world, with which it shares a passion for excellence, tradition and innovation. Rolex's partnership with the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) began in 1984, forging a deep bond based on a shared philosophy, passion, prestige and professionalism̀. Founded in 1967 by the Aga Khan and three other sailing enthusiast friends, the YCCS is a symbolic place that reflects the spirit of sailing. Once again in the 2021 sporting season, Rolex's partnership with the YCCS saw the classic early September rendezvous with the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup. The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, is one of the highlights of the sailing season in the Mediterranean. In a unique setting, the Costa Smeralda, a sumptuous fleet of Maxi Yachts converge on the YCCS in Porto Cervo to compete in a week of competition in the waters of Sardinia. The regatta brings together the best skippers and crews, aboard the most modern and powerful yachts of the moment. The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is known internationally as the reference event for Maxi Yachts, a showcase of innovation, technology and competitiveness at the highest level, and this edition was particularly popular, as confirmed by the presence of no less than 44 yachts, after the momentary stop imposed by the pandemic last year. Clear proof of how eager the great international yachting was to resume racing activities.
