The Watch Yearbook represents a selection of the best new watches launched in 2023 (a total of 270), as usual divided into categories: Pluricomplicates, Tourbillons, Minute Repeaters, Ultraflats, Calendars, Lunar Phases, GMTs, Power Reserve, Chronographs, Underwater, Military, Solotempo, Jumps, Special Dials, Smartwatches and Skeletons.
On the cover, the Rolex Yacht-Master 42 with case and bracelet in RLX titanium (Ref. 226627), a special grade 5 titanium alloy developed by Rolex, which is characterised by its lightness and its mechanical and corrosion resistance.
Among the Pluricomplicates is Patek Philippe's Ref. 5316 in the new version with a smoked sapphire dial, showing the complicated calibre with tourbillon, minute repeater and retrograde perpetual calendar.
Skeletonised models are those in which a master engraver works by hand on the bridges, the mainplate and (if present) the winding rotor, removing material that is not functionally and structurally indispensable.
Modern interpretations of the device patented by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801, the Tourbillon. Like Hublot's, which combines a classic complication with a technological, ultra-light and resistant case.
A selection of models in the multi-spindle and GMT types, one of the most useful functions for travellers even in the digital age, which cancels out all kinds of distances.
Time-only (or three-ball) watches are those watches that provide only the indication of hours, minutes and seconds (but not always). They often also have a date function.
The sporty disposition of the diving category, always popular with enthusiasts, finds a wide variety of technical choices among a range of watches from 200 metres down.
Classic or sporty, the chronograph is a complication that continues to be among the most appreciated and sought-after, and the creative and constructive commitment of the various Maisons confirms its excellent health.
