The first issue of L'Orologio hit the newsstands in September 1992, with a Patek Philippe Calatrava on the cover. Thirty years have passed since then, and to celebrate this anniversary, the cover of issue 309 (October 2022) is once again dedicated to Patek Philippe, and what's more, with two exclusives: the unreleased Rattrapante Chronograph with Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5373 left-handed, i.e. with pushers and crown placed on the left side of the platinum case, and the long-awaited new Nautilus Ref. 5811/1G, with a 41 mm white gold case and blue dial.
Inside, an article traces the first 30 years of L'Orologio's history, through the most representative issues from 1992 to the present day. We then devote ample space to our Watch of the Year 2022 award, the ceremony for which was held on 18 October in Milan. And again, a report on a visit to Longines brings attention to our unique initiative for readers and collectors: L'Orologio Club, which allows its members to visit some of the leading Swiss watchmakers in person.
Issue 309 also features an interesting interview by our editor with Swatch Group Italia CEO Calogero Polizzi, who reveals the Group's present and future strategies. This month's Guide, as is tradition for the month of October, is dedicated to women's watchmaking, while the technical in-depth look at the perpetual calendar mechanism with its 12-month cam. There are also reports of two events that saw L'Orologio as the main partner: the VO Vintage in Vicenza and The One auction in Collio.
