On 16 April, in Milan, as part of the events for the Salone del Mobile, L'Orologio Club members were guests of Jaeger-LeCoultre for an exclusive watchmaking lesson. Gown, loupe, bench and equipment were authentic, as was the enthusiasm shown by our readers in learning the techniques for dismantling and reassembling a mechanical movement. And not just any movement, but Jaeger-LeCoultre's 875 calibre, which equips the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Grande Date. It is a hand-wound calibre with an eight-day power reserve. On 19 and 20 April, two watchmakers from the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture guided our guests through the heart of the movement, first illustrating its workings and then guiding them through the operations to dismantle the large date and escapement. All this took place in an unparalleled setting. In fact, the space set up by Jaeger-LeCoultre for the Fuori Salone was composed of two areas: the room equipped with the ten antique-style wooden watchmaker's benches, and the large exhibition space, where one could admire the House's new collections presented at SIHH 2010, along with the star creation of the Fuori Salone, namely the Atmos 566 designed by Marc Newson with its precious Baccarat crystal case and astronomical movement. A collector's piece with a price tag ranging from 77,000 to 89,000 euros. The hostess was Raffaella Guerra, Marketing Manager Jaeger-LeCoultre, who introduced the lecture with a presentation of the brand and its history. Our members' reactions to the initiative were enthusiastic, despite their initial apprehension about getting their hands on such a complex and refined calibre as the JLC 875.
