Longines looks back

Longines guarda al passato

Enthusiasts are well acquainted with the Sport Legends line of Longinesa tribute to the great pioneers of the sport and their exploits. With the new edition of the model Istituto Idrografico della Regia Marina (Hydrographic Institute of the Regia Marina), the House re-proposes the wrist chronograph originally developed, in 1938, for the cartographers of this Institute, thus celebrating the 70th anniversary of this model, which remains faithful in design and lines to its predecessor.

The case is made of stainless steel and has a cover on the back bearing the name "Istituto Idrografico R. Marina", who commissioned the historic watch. The lid, when opened, allows one to admire the EFCo engraving, with the original design of the winged hourglass by Longines, a tribute to the brand's founder Ernest Francillon. The dial, lacquered black, has large luminescent numerals with SuperLuminova and blue hands that are also luminescent, ensuring excellent legibility in all conditions. The movement is mechanical automatic calibre L651.3, with a 42-hour power reserve.
