Longines celebrates the 2017 Alpine Skiing World Championships

Conquest_Classic_FIS_Alpine_World_Ski_Championships_St_Moritz_20To celebrate the Alpine Ski World Championships, which are being held in St. Moritz from today until 19 February, Longines is presenting two limited edition models, one for women and one for men. With this launch, the brand also wants to pay tribute to its historical ties with the International Ski Federation and the town of St. Moritz. These two watches enrich the Conquest Classic collection and will delight men and women who are passionate about skiing, but who do not want to compromise on elegance. Longines, which is an Official Partner of the International Ski Federation (FIS), has for many years put all its expertise in sports timekeeping at the disposal of the great "white circus" at the FIS World Cup races and the FIS World Alpine Ski Championships. The company's commitment to the world of skiing has its roots in the long tradition of timing Alpine competitions, inaugurated in Saint-Imier back in 1924. To celebrate the 2017 Alpine Ski World Championships, therefore, the Swiss Maison is offering a limited edition for him and her that adopts the colours of the logo of this major international sporting event. The models are part of the Conquest Classic collection, a line with a classic aesthetic that, together with the others, has helped to write Longines' success and reputation. The men's model has a 42 mm diameter steel case housing the L678 self-winding mechanical movement. The blue dial has nine applied hour markers coated with Super-Luminova and creates a nice contrast with the moon phase display. The dial features a chronograph hour counter at 6 o'clock, 24-hour display and small seconds at 9 o'clock, as well as a chronograph minute counter and day-of-week and month display at 12 o'clock. The date is indicated by the central half-moon hand. The ladies' model, for its part, has a steel case 34 mm in diameter and is powered by the L888 calibre. The hours, minutes and seconds stand out on the blue dial thanks to rhodium-plated hands coated with Super-Luminova. The FIS Alpine Ski World Championships logo is engraved on the transparent case back.
