It begins with the 2008 novelties which, if the morning is any indication, already look very promising... Just yesterday, in fact, Piaget presented a preview of the new Emperador Coussin Quantième Perpétuel, the latest testimony to the dynamism that has seen the company successfully engaged in the production of sophisticated mechanical movements over the past ten years. The new automatic calibre 855P, developed and manufactured in-house, features the following functions: perpetual calendar with retrograde day of the week and date, month, year, second time zone. The perpetual calendar is synchronised with the time display on the main dial, while the second time zone, at 8 o'clock, can be shifted independently by means of the concealed corrector on the case middle. When you go, for example, to New York, you can therefore set the second time zone hand (the longest hand on the dial at 8 o'clock) to local time without touching the perpetual calendar. The only drawback is that the date will still strike at midnight on home time (hour and minute hands on the main dial). Interesting is the solution of engraving on the case middle, in correspondence with each rapid corrector (date, day of the week, second time zone, month, etc.) the corresponding indication, on which the small button acts.
