The Rolex Manufacture

Between Bienne and Geneva, Rolex assembles and tests most of the components of its watches, from the casting of the gold alloys to the assembly of the movement, case, dial and bracelet elements. Specifically, at its world headquarters in Geneva, the company houses all the activities of management, administration and communication, those related to the final assembly, control and marketing of the watches, and those of research and development; not forgetting, then, the laboratories where all the finished models are tested before being shipped, the office that manages the after-sales service and the training centre, inaugurated in 2018, to cultivate the talent of the youngest and strengthen the skills of employees. On the other hand, the site in Plan-les-Ouates, a small commune in the canton of Geneva, concentrates the activities related to the development and production of the cases and bracelets, from the processing of raw materials to the creation of the finishes. In that of Chêne-Bourg, another village in the same canton, the dials, Cerachrom bezels and ceramic Cerachrom bezel discs are developed and produced and, in two specific workshops, gemology and gem-setting activities are carried out. Finally, for the heart of the watches, one has to travel to Bienne, in the canton of Berne: the company's fourth site, the one entirely dedicated to movements and their components, is located there. A common thread running through all the facilities, which together testify to the brand's industrial autonomy and its many savoir-faire, is a very similar architecture. A neat and essential style, designed with functionality in mind and characterised by large proportions, clean lines, bright interiors and large glass facades in anthracite grey and green, the brand's emblematic colour. Buildings in which technology and innovations are at the service of practicality and ergonomics and in which every element is well balanced.
