Glashütte, a small town south of Berlin, near Dresden, is home to Nomos Glashütte: founded in 1990, it employs around 220 people, around 30 of whom work in Berlin, New York, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Como and the rest in Glashütte itself.
Its main structure is the old railway station, with the large building next to platform 1, once also used as a warehouse. Renovated in 2005, it boasts a glass annex that serves as an event and meeting room, windows reminiscent of the Bauhaus style, and multiple designer furnishings, including several works of modern art on the walls.
The décor is similar in all locations: in the Chronometrie Nomos on the Erbenhang hill, where the watchmakers are located; in the research and development department, which boasts a sweeping view of the valley; in the production facility in the Schlottwitz district, a space of around one thousand square metres where the smallest parts are produced to make the movements; and in the shop in the centre of Glashütte. And of course also in Berlin where, in a former industrial building from the early 20th century, the brand's design and communication are developed.
Finally, sustainability and the wellbeing of the workers are also central, as they receive reimbursements for public transport and subsidies for lunch, which is cooked on site, favouring regional products. This is a further detail that confirms the company's strong bond with its place of origin.
